Generative AI (genAI) offers potential to enhance learning scenarios. However, research on specific use-cases and roles within educational frameworks is limited. This paper focuses on UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development framework and its recommendation to use Project-Based Learning (PBL) to develop key-competences for addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research investigates expert teachers' views on the potential for human-AI collaboration, focusing on the role of genAI in use-cases designed to enhance individual and collaborative learning within PBLxSDG. A workshop involving 33 participants yielded 11 use-cases. Along with 10 use-cases derived from the literature and evaluations from participants, forming the foundation of our analysis. Insights from our analysis saw genAI assuming diverse roles for human-AI collaboration within PBLxSDG. However, concerns were raised about overreliance on AI, learning outcomes, and the need for teacher guidance. This work provides insights for educators and researchers exploring genAI implementation in collaborative, active learning scenarios.
