Resum
El trabajo trata la traducción del manga al castellano (cuestiones lingüísticas, metodológicas y técnicas): las características principales del japonés, el proceso de traducción, los métodos y las opciones de adaptación empleados por las editoriales españolas, y la compatibilidad de escritura en equipos españoles. Finalmente, incluye un ejemplo real de traducción.
Nowadays, publishing manga has become a very popular market in Spain that reaches a/nwide audience. Moreover, manga fanatics – also known as “otakus” – increasingly demand/nthe highest quality from the translations of their favourite series. Therefore, the need for/nspecialised translators in this sector has increased up to a great extent; yet, there is only one/ncollege in Barcelona in which students may choose Japanese as a second language. As for I/nlove translating and manga, I have decided to study the processes of its translation in order/nto forward the interest of studying it at Pompeu Fabra University – even though there is no/nJapanese department. As you might know, manga is the term used to refer to comics/noriginally drawn by Japanese artists; consequently, they are primarily written in Japanese,/nwhich is a particularly difficult language involving special expressions and nuances. That is/nwhy in this project I first introduce the language, and then present the translation of an/nexcerpt from a one-shot manga, discussing the difficulties, problems and characteristics I/nhave encountered during the process. Furthermore, I include a brief summary of the/nnecessary Windows and Mac OS systems settings to read and write Japanese with your/ncomputer, as well as of the various language-related programs and utilities (e. g., Optical/ncharacter recognition). To sum up, using the translation of a manga as an example, this/nproject shows significant differences between Japanese and Spanish culture and the use of/nlanguage in comics, and how these differences influence localization processes.Paraules clau
