Les autotraduccions al castellà de la novel·lística de Xavier Benguerel

Abstract

L’objectiu de l’article és analitzar la manera com les traduccions i les autotraduccions de les novel·les de Xavier Benguerel es relacionen amb el mercat editorial barceloní durant la postguerra. Primerament s’examina la poètica traductològica de Benguerel (aplicada a la seva obra o a la d’altri). Després es fa una valoració general de les seves autotraduccions al castellà. A l’hora d’analitzar-les es tenen en compte: a) els condicionants històrics que dificulten la labor creativa (la redacció dels originals, la traducció i la subsegüent publicació); b) el desenvolupament, entre els anys 1960 i 1970, d’un mercat editorial barceloní que, a poc a poc, permet de visibilitzar la literatura catalana de postguerra.

The aim of this article is to analyse the way in which the translations and self-translations of Xavier Benguerel’s novels are related to the publishing market in Barcelona during the postwar period. First, Berenguel’s own poetic translation method (applied both to his own work and to that of others) is analysed. There then follows a general evaluation of his self-translations into Spanish. When carrying out the analysis the following factors are taken into account: a) historical conditioners which make the creative task (writing of originals and translation, and their subsequent publication) more difficult; b) the evolution of a publishing market in Barcelona in the 1960s and 1970s, which gave visibility to the Catalan literature of the post-war period.
