dc.description.abstract This paper presents a computer model for bar percussion instruments that captures their main physical characteristics in a very flexible structure. The starting point is current knowledge of the acoustics of the instruments. Then a modular analysis/synthesis process is presented based on Discrete Fourier Transform Techniques and filter methods. the result of the research is an algorithm implemented on the Systems Concepts Digital Synthesizer ("Samson Box") that integrates several synthesis strategies. This algorithm maps to the underlying physics of the instruments and its parameters are easily specified.
