The goal of this paper is to translate a part of a French book into Spanish so as to recreate the real process that a translator has to carry out during any type of translation, and to show the competences acquired during the studies in Translation. In addition, our intention is to prove that translation studies are needed as a mean to share the knowledge among cultures. For this paper I chose to translate a youth fantasy novel from a well-known French author on this subject that has been recently published in France and that has not been translated yet. Although some may think that this kind of translation does not present many difficulties, the truth is that there are a lot of things to keep in mind when you are translating for this age group. This paper includes a part of introduction to the world created by the author, a 12 chapter translation, evaluation criteria of the difficulties found during the translation process and a short conclusion. The internal analyse a translator has to do is invisible to the eyes of the readers, even though it is the main struggle for them. This paper presents and arguments the difficulties that can be found when translating a literary work and how they have been solved.Descripció
