- dc.description.abstract En aquest treball es tracta la traducció de l’original en anglès al català del primer capítol de la novel·la The Jungle (1906) d’Upton Sinclair, coneguda pel rebombori social que va causar als Estats Units en la seva publicació. A continuació el segueixen comentaris respecte a les decisions preses durant el procés de traducció pel que fa a l’estil de l’autor, centrant-se en aquells trets que el caracteritzen; la traducció d’intervencions en un tercer idioma, el lituà; i l’adaptació dels topònims que apareixen en aquest primer capítol. This paper deals with the translation from its English original to Catalan of the first chapter of the novel The Jungle (1906) by Upton Sinclair, known for the social uproar it caused in the United States upon its publication. This is followed by comments regarding the decisions made during the translation process regarding the author’s style, focusing on those traits that characterize it; the translation of interventions from a third language, Lithuanian; and the adaptation of the toponyms that appear on this first chapter.
