Media interpreting is a modality that emerges through the need for intercommunication of the globalized world that we live in. The media interpreter's role is undergoing changes as it is starting to be a key-player in the communicative context. In this paper, the rote of the interpreter in medi a settings will be thoroughly described based on the existing literature in the field Key issues such as visibility, role conflict and professionalism will be discussed and later analyzed in the examples examined. Additionally, we will explore three real interpreting cases that give us an example of what resources the interpreter uses or how he responds when facing challenges such as rendering humor in cultural-bound terms, being under the spotlight and having his ethics' code challenged. After presenting the three cases we will provide solutions to each problem faced by the interpreters when rendering cultural-bound terms or when being under the spotlight. Our study analysis these situations and also provides solutions to interpreting challenges, and shows that media interpreting is a complex but mandatory modality in our society in order to provide information to the target public.Descripció
