Negociando con el new momism: un análisis comparado de la maternidad en Big Little Lies y Little Fires Everywhere desde la figura de Reese Witherspoon

  El objetivo principal de este artículo es analizar la pervivencia y evolución de la ideología del new momism en Big Little Lies y Little Fires Everywhere, para ver sus contradicciones a través de la figura de Reese Witherspoon, actriz y productora. Seguimos la metodología de los star studies, que parte de analizar la star persona de la actriz para ver como dialoga con ambas series, a través de un análisis textual comparativo combinado con el análisis del arquetipo de maternidad propuesto por el new momism. Este arquetipo de maternidad sigue vigente, a través de elementos como el dictado de la “libre elección” y de las mommy wars. Aun así, veremos como las madres de estas ficciones interpretan una mascarada: al mezclar posfeminismo y feminismo, hay brechas en el discurso del new momism que revelan la insatisfacción que este conlleva y la imposibilidad de cumplir sus cánones de perfección.
  The main objective of this article is to analyze the survival and evolution of the ideology of new momismin Big Little Liesand Little Fires Everywhere, to see its contradictions through the figure of Reese Witherspoon, actress and producer. We follow star studiesmethodology by analyzing the star personaof the actress to see how it dialogues with both series, through a comparative textual analysis combined with the analysis of the archetype of motherhood proposed by new momism. This archetype of motherhood is still in force, through elements such as the dictates of "free choice" and mommy wars. Even so, we will see how the mothers in these fictions perform a masquerade: by mixing postfeminism and feminism, there are gaps in the discourse of new momismthat reveal the dissatisfaction it entails and the impossibility of fulfilling its canons of perfection.
