Black Mirror o la pesadilla de Funes

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza un capítulo de la serie británica Black Mirror, “The Entire History of You”, proponiendo que el episodio plantea un juego de espejos interesante: por un lado, para los protagonistas del capítulo como productores y espectadores de imágenes digitales de su propia vida, y por el otro, para el espectador de la serie, que se ve arrojado a reflexionar sobre la imagen/representación/memoria digital a partir de una incomodidad demasiado cercana, sin la tranquilidad que puede ofrecer la ciencia ficción tradicional, que/nopera otro tipo de distanciamiento. Se plantea que frente a los personajes—cíborgs que funcionan como punto de pasaje de datos—, el único privilegiado que realmente puede —o incluso está obligado a —aprovechar las posibilidades que ofrece la imagen digital (tal como es planteada en este episodio de Black Mirror) es el espectador.

This paper /nanalyses /n“The Entire History of You”,/nan episode of the British TV /nseries /nBlack Mirror./nIt proposes that this chapter /nshows/na/nn interesting/ngame of mirrors/n: on /nthe one hand, /nfor/nthe characters of the story (as producers and viewers of digital images /nof /ntheir o/nwn lives) and on the other hand, f/nor the spectators/n(who are urged to observe and /nreflect on the digital images/representation/memory/n)/n. Moreover, /nit’s uncomfortable for /nthem to do so, as they are/nfar /naway /nfrom the calming strategies that the traditional science /nfiction offers/n. The paper /nal/nso suggests /nthat as the protagonists are cyborgs who function as /na mere space of support of digital data, the only one who can (and must) take advantage of /nthe possibilities of the digital image (as it is shown in this /nBlack Mirror/nepisode) is the /nspectato/nr.
