Abstract

The Adventures of Tintin, Hergé's masterpiece, is one of the most important and influential comics that have been created in history. It portrays several historic events using a unique drawing and narrating technique that has not only captivated readers, but also seduced writers to base their work on this comic. Such is the case of French author Gordon Zola, who created a witty pastiche of the Belgian reporter and his friends, which caused him legal problems but constitutes a humorous invitation to discover or re-discover Hergé' s work and, more importantly for this work, an ideal text for an integral translation exercise. This work presents a translation into Spanish of a fragment of said parody and an analysis of the translation solutions and strategies used. The main objective of this work is, on the one hand, to perform a translation exercise that enables the application of the knowledge acquired during the Translation and Interpreting career- including the correct use of dictionaries and corpuses- and, on the other one, to provide useful infonnation for the further translatíon of Gordon Zola ' s work. The method used to achieve said objectives resulted in a proof of the most relevant translation complexities in Gordon Zola's text and their possible solutions that could be of use in order to translate the rest of this author' s book and series.
