Análisis del doblaje en castellano y catalán de la película Mary Poppins

    Doblar películas infantiles que además combinen música, cultura y humor puede considerarse como uno de los mayores retos de la traducción audiovisual. En este trabajo se pretende analizar el doblaje del inglés al castellano y al catalán de la película Mary Poppins para estudiar los posibles comportamientos traductores ante las referencias culturales que conllevan un aumento en la dificultad de traducción así como también lo hacen el humor, la música y otros juegos de palabras. A través de este trabajo se compararán algunas de las técnicas a las que más se han recurrido en estos dos doblajes y se analizarán los errores de traducción más comunes y su repercusión (teniendo siempre en cuenta las diferencias existentes en cada una de las lenguas). Después de ver la película tanto en inglés como en castellano y de escuchar el audio de la versión en catalán (único material accesible para esta version), se han seleccionado una serie de fragmentos que responden a los intereses planteados y se han analizado comparativamente. Finalmente, entre las conclusiones obtenidas encontramos una preferencia domesticadora por parte del doblaje castellano ante los referentes culturales y extranjerizante por el catalán, un intento por conservar en las dos versiones meta el mismo humor presente en la original, una tendencia en catalán por técnicas más próximas a la traducción literal y más libres en castellano y, como consecuencia, una presencia de errores de traduccion en castellano mayor que en catalán.
    Dubbing children's films combining music, culture, and humour can be considered as one of the greatest challenges of audiovisual translation. This paper analyses the dubbing from English into Spanish and Catalan of the film Mary Poppins in order to study the possible translator behaviours which can be carried out when dubbing material containing cultural references, humour, music, and other puns that increase the difficulty of translations. Through this paper we will compare the most frequently used translation techniques and the most commonly committed translation errors in the dubbing of each target version (always taking into account the differences between each language). After watching the film in its English original version and dubbed in Spanish and having listened to the audio of the Catalan version (the only material available in this language), we have selected a number of passages that respond to the issues that we have raised and we have analysed them comparatively. Finally, the conclusions of this study have shown: a predominant trend of the Spanish dubbing towards domestication contrary to the Catalan one, which prefers the foreignization; an attempt of the two target versions to keep the same humour that appears in the original version; a tendency for more literal translation techniques in Catalan and much freer in Spanish, and, consequently, a higher number of translation errors in Spanish than in Catalan.
