  • dc.description.abstract Although reports are one of the most common texts made by the EU Parliament and the EU Commission, they have not been comprehensively studied so far. They are also a very important source of vocabulary to IATE (the EU inter-institutional terminology /ndatabase system) and to many bitexts used as a model by professional translators. The purpose of this paper is to translate and analyze the EU Parliament’s report Global Fisheries Subsidies (2013) with the aid of Omega-T, a free CAT tool. The paper also /nincludes, on one hand, a theoretical framework, which explains the main features of EU reports, and, specifically, of economical reports, along with some recommendations of the Fight the Fog movement for clearer writing. On the other hand, it also lists and explains the report’s most challenging problems, which have been divided into lexical, conventional and other types of aspects. The results of this study show that mistakes induced by false friends and loan translations are very usual in this genre, even in the different EU sources. It also demonstrates how useful a CAT tool can be to keep lexical coherence in the target text, despite some of the disadvantages of Omega-T. And, last but not least, it proves that translating EU reports should not be underestimated, since /nthey require a very high level of formality and accurateness. Furthermore, one of the direct implications of these results is that EU texts should be revised and analyzed more deeply before being published, especially those of the EU websites and IATE.en
