Análisis de la traducción de la variación lingüística en la novela Il ladro di merendine de Andrea Camilleri

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es de analizar las diversas estrategias de traducción de la variación lingüística y de las referencias culturales de Sicilia mediante el estudio de la novela de Andrea Camilleri titulada Il ladro di meredine (1996) y su traducción al español El ladrón de meriendas (2000) realizada por María Antonia Menini Pagés. En esta novela, como todas las otras escritas por Camilleri, están presentes, además del dialecto siciliano, otras variedades lingüísticas como el italiano regional de Sicilia, el italiano popular, y, la variedad más utilizada por nuestro autor que consiste en una mezcla entre el dialecto siciliano y el italiano. Aplicamos distintos ejes de la variación lingüística desde una perspectiva sociolingüística y pragmática, en concreto las nociones de nivel educativo, contexto comunicativo y distancia social a algunos fragmentos significativos con el fin de examinar cómo la traductora ha trasladado la sicilianidad de la novela y todos sus elementos.The aim of this academic work is to analyse the different strategies used to translate the linguistic variation and the cultural references of Sicily through the study of the novel of Andrea Camilleri entitled Il ladro di merendine (1996) and its translation to Spanish El ladrón de meriendas (2000) done by María Antonia Menini Pagés. Within this novel, like in all the others written by Camilleri, there are, in addition to the Sicilian dialect, other linguistic varieties such as the regional Italian of Sicily, popular Italian and the most used variety which is a mixture between dialect and Italian. The study looks at the interaction between several axes of language variation, from the sociolinguistic and pragmatic perspectives, particularly the variables of educational level, communicative context and social distance. A sample of relevant fragments is analysed to determine how the sicilianità of the novel and its elements has been transferred by the translator.
