Abstract

Given the vertiginous velocity in which artificial intelligence applied to other fields is advancing and how it can change the paradigms in medicine, I consider the article Non-obvious correlations to disease management unraveled by Bayesian artificial intelligence analyses of CMS data from the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine journal an excellent opportunity to enter upon the field of technical and scientific specialized translation. Being English the lingua franca in which mostly scientific publications are produced, I strongly believe that this content should be translated into Spanish as it will be a major concern in the close future. The complexity of the article has been a challenge to cope with as this type of translation requires the utmost precision and accuracy, it is replete with new terms, technical expressions and structures, and combines the fields of machine learning, statistics and medicine. It is the profile which I specialized during my degree, so I believe that I have been able to apply my former knowledge to this project. This project is consist of the translation of the article and an accurate analysis in which I have discussed the major difficulties that I have found in the text, and the detailed description of the strategies and methodologies that I have followed to solve them. Without a doubt, it has been an enriching experience and has aided me to improve my proficiency in this type of translation.
