Dubbing is the most used translation method in Spain and the one that Spanish people like the most. Audiovisual retranslation is still not as popular as literature retranslation because of the effort and money that it implies. Nevertheless, should we not try to improve or change previous dubbed films if it is the main way to watch international films in Spain? The aim of this end of degree project is to analyze and retranslate the Spanish dubbing of the Disney film Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971, Robert Stevenson), in Spanish La bruja novata. To achieve this objective a research was developed in order to obtain data of dubbing, its characteristics and translation strategies along with data of retranslation. The data showed the sentences that needed to be analyzed or changed. They can be classified in eight different areas: the inserts, feigned orality, interjections, changes of the meaning, translation mistakes, the loss of intervocalic d, humor and usage of other languages. This project shows examples of each classification and a proposed retranslation if needed based on the analysis. Thus, the analysis proved that the retranslation of the Spanish dubbing of Bedknobs and Broomsticks was possible to make because of the mistakes that were found and the areas that could be improved. In addition, it implies that some films should be retranslated if the first translation was not passing on the same message or reaction of the public as the original. Therefore, the objective of this paper was achieved by creating the retranslation.Descripció
