The current world is full of samples of multilingualism: wars, migrations and tourism are the main reasons why people are traveling and moving around the world. This phenomenon causes language contact, the will to learn new languages and multilingualism, which is the cohabitation of two or more languages in a community. On the one hand, the increase of multilingualism in the real world has forced cinema directors to incorporate multilingualism in their films, in order to make them more realistic and plausible. On the other hand, the increase of multilingualism in cinematic production has forced translators to deal with a new translation problem. Multilingualism as an L3 has been a common area of study for linguists and translators, but translation of multilingualism as an accent or pronunciation has been highly ignored by most of them. The way in which this phenomenon is solved for an animated sitcom as famous as The Simpsons, was considered a good method to analyze the multiple possible strategies on which translators can rely on to confront multilingualism as an accent. Furthermore, evaluating all these strategies and the consequences of their employment have been interesting objects of study, the results of which could help future translators to be brave enough to face multilingualism in texts, including audiovisual texts destined to be dubbed.
