Resum
Making a legal and economic translation from English into Catalan of The Right to Interpretation and Translation in Criminal Proceedings (Scotland) Regulations 2014 is not easy. Therefore, after presenting the introduction and the previous considerations, the necessary documentation to justify the translation decisions is set forth. First, the contextualization establishes the three main topics on which the paper is focused and its scope: the legislation of Scotland and Catalonia, specifically the regulations; the criminal proceedings within the criminal law branch, in Scotland and Catalonia, and the right to interpretation and translation, also in both societies. Second, the translation of the Regulations into Catalan is presented. Next, the translation commentary analyses the agents involved in the criminal proceedings in Scotland and proposes its translation through full or partial functional equivalents, contrasting them with those who take part in criminal proceedings in Catalonia and Spain. Finally, the conclusions answer the initial objectives and determine the actual difficulty of transferring realities from one legal system to another, even though it is attempted through the functional equivalence translation process. The original text and the rest of the documentation formed by the glossary, with entries of legal vocabulary and recurring expressions, and the other translation problems, with grammar and formatting issues, are added to the appendix.Descripció
