Accesibilidad y anime: propuesta de subtitulación accesible de "Ataque a los titanes"

Abstract

En los últimos años, la accesibilidad se ha hecho más presente en el mundo audiovisual, gracias a la creciente conciencia social, las normativas y los modelos de referencia. El subtitulado accesible, que permite que las personas con discapacidades auditivas puedan acceder a los productos audiovisuales con una experiencia similar a la del espectador oyente, supone todo un reto para el traductor. No solo contiene las convenciones espaciotemporales que siempre han caracterizado a la subtitulación, sino que a esto hay que añadirle más restricciones, propias de un subtitulado accesible: la identificación de los personajes, el uso de didascalias para el tono de voz usado o los ruidos que hace un personaje y la descripción de la música y los efectos sonoros. En lo referente a la animación japonesa, la accesibilidad está presente en la que está dirigida a un público infantil, mientras que para otro tipo de público apenas vemos accesibilidad. En el presente trabajo, se expone la literatura referente a la SPS y a la animación japonesa y se hace una propuesta accesible, basada en la norma UNE, de tres escenas de Ataque a los titanes. De esta forma, queda demostrado que la animación que no está dirigida a los más pequeños también puede y debería tener una versión accesibleIn recent years, accessibility’s presence in the audiovisual field has increased, thanks to the growing social awareness, regulations and reference models. Subtitles for the deaf and hard-ofhearing, which allow deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers to access audiovisual products and have a similar experience to that of the hearing audience, is a huge challenge for the translator. We have to keep in mind not only the conventions regarding time and space that have always characterised subtitling, but the further restrictions inherent of SDH subtitles: characters’ identification, captions for the tone of voice, the noises made by a character and the description of music and sound effects. As far as Japanese animation is concerned, accessibility can be found in animation for children, while in animation for other audiences it is hardly seen. In this paper, academic literature on SDH subtitles and Japanese animation is expounded and an accessible version of three scenes from Attack on Titan is proposed, based on the UNE norm. Thus, it is demonstrated that animation not aimed at children can and should also have its accessible version.
