Jodida traducción: estudio descriptivo del doblaje de fuck en El lobo de Wall Street

Abstract

Dado que los elementos coloquiales son parte intrínseca de la oralidad prefabricada, el lenguaje tabú está siempre presente en el cine. El modo en el que se tratan las palabras malsonantes en doblaje tiene un interés traductológico indudable, y es por eso que en el presente estudio se plantea la hipótesis de que en traducción audiovisual para doblaje al español se tiende a eliminar o a atenuar parte de los elementos tabús que aparecen en la versión original. Para comprobarlo, se toma como objeto de estudio la película The Wolf of Wall Street (Scorsese, M., 2013) y se analiza el total de las apariciones de la palabra fuck y sus derivados en la versión original (VO) de la película. Una vez estudiadas las apariciones de la F-word se analiza de manera exhaustiva el modo en que se han traducido en la versión doblada (VD) al español de España. Una vez se ha comprobado si se mantiene o no la malsonancia de todos los disfemismos, se propone un listado de traducciones al español de la palabra fuck y sus derivados para que otros traductores puedan emplearlo en futuros proyectos.

Since colloquial elements are an intrinsic part of prefabricated orality, taboo language is always present in cinema. The way in which mispronouncing words is treated in dubbing has an undeniable traductologic interest, and that is the reason why in the present study we have the hypothesis that in audiovisual translation for Spanish dubbing there is a tendency to eliminate or attenuate part of the taboo elements that appear in the original version. In order to prove this, we take the film The Wolf of Wall Street (Scorsese, M., 2013) as an object of study and we analyze the total number of appearances of the word fuck and its derivatives in the original version (OV) of the film. Once the appearances of the F-word have been studied, the way in which they have been translated in the dubbed version (DV) into Spanish from Spain is exhaustively analyzed. Having checked whether or not the taboo elements of all the dysphemisms is eliminated, a list of possible translations into Spanish of the word fuck and its derivatives is proposed so that other translators can use it in further projects.
