Mediación y cultura de paz en comunidades sujetas a repoblación sostenible

Small towns are characterized by close-knit communities and a high degree of social interconnectivity. When these areas aim to repopulate, unique challenges arise that could undermine the long term stay of the newcomers. The implementation of mediation practices can ensure peaceful living together and enhance the community. Through the ground work conducted in two small villages in Aragón, Spain, which examines factors such as community relationships, local cultural norms and population diversity, the work identifies key themes and patterns in how disputes are managed and resolved. This paper elaborates a project that combines mediation and restorative practices to strengthen positive coexistence and promote peace culture. By providing recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of such practices in small villages, engaging locals, supplying them with mediation tools, helping them to develop skills tailored to their contexts, establishing clear ethical guidelines and working on the development of community awareness programs to support the mediation processes, the project aims to boost and facilitate long-term repopulation.
