- dc.description.abstract El objetivo básico del presente artículo es desarrollar y completar la literatura existente acerca de los logros educativos y profesionales así como de la movilidad ocupacional en España. El trabajo se estructura así en tres partes fundamentales. La primera se centra en comprobar el efecto del tamaño familiar en el nivel de estudios de los individuos. La segunda parte trata de los efectos de la estructura familiar, confirmando empíricamente las hipótesis referentes a “la patología del matriarcado”, “padrastros frente a padres biológicos” y “mujer frente a hombre” como cabezas de familia. Finalmente, se estudian en profundidad los procesos de movilidad intrageneracional arrojando luz sobre los patrones de “cierre“, “dominancia estructural” y “ciclo vital” para el caso español.es
- dc.description.abstract The basic aim of this paper is to develop and complete the existing literature about educational and occupational attainment as well as mobility in Spain. This is done focusing on three main strands. The first one deals with the effect of the number of siblings on the individuals’ educational attainment. The second part deals with the effects of family structure, confirming the ‘pathology of matriarchy’, ‘female versus male family head’ and the ‘stepparent vs. biological parent’ hypotheses. Finally, the intragenerational mobility processes are deeply studied shedding light on the ‘closure’, ‘structural dominance’ and ‘life-course’ patterns for the Spanish case.en
