Las peticiones sacerdotales en el Egipto helenístico (332-30 BCE)

Abstract

Desde una perspectiva material y sociológica, esta tesis estudia la conexión entre sacerdotes y peticiones en el Egipto helenístico. Se analiza el lenguaje visual de las peticiones producidas por sacerdotes, observando las decisiones estéticas en cuanto a formato, márgenes y disposición del texto que los escribas implementaban a la hora de redactarlas, y se contrasta con la materialidad de peticiones no sacerdotales. Se examina también el contenido de las peticiones, observando en detalle los remitentes, los destinatarios y las problemáticas planteadas en estos documentos. Finalmente, se propone la figura del “sacerdote-escriba” y se examina en relación con la competencia de los sacerdotes en la producción escribal y con el grado de influencia que tuvo este grupo en su desarrollo durante el Egipto ptolemaico.From a material and sociological perspective, this thesis studies the connection between priests and petitions in Hellenistic Egypt. It analyzes the visual language of petitions produced by priests, observing the aesthetic decisions in regards to format, margins and layout that scribes implemented when drafting them, and contrasting it with the materiality of non-priestly petitions. Their contents are also examined, exploring in detail the senders, the addressees and the issues raised in these documents. Finally, it proposes the figure of the “priest-scribe” and examines its relationship with the competence of the priests in scribal production and the degree of influence that this group had in its development during Ptolemaic Egypt.Programa de Doctorat en Història
