• dc.description.abstract RESUMENTanto los estudios académicos como la crítica especializada sobre el cómic reciente en España están dominados por el uso de la denomincación "novela gráfica". Este artículo trata de contrarrestar la influencia de este término mostrando la importancia fundamental que los géneros de no ficción y en particular el ensayo han tenido en algunas de las obras de cómic dirigidas a un público adulto más importantes de la última década. Estableciendo una breve historia del ensayo en el cómic español contemporáneo que se extiende hasta la Transición, el artículo estudia algunas de las obras recientes de Miguel Gallardo, Paco Roca, Manel Fontdevila, Daniel Torres, Max o Carlos Giménez. ABSTRACTBoth recent academic studies and specialized criticism on comics in Spain are dominated by the use of the "graphic novel" denomination. This article tries to offer an alternative to the influence of this term by showing the fundamental importance that non-fiction genres and the essay in particular have had in some of the most important comic books of the last decade aimed at adult readers . This article proposes a short history of the essay form in contemporary Spanish comics that begins with the Transition and then analyzes some of the latest works by Miguel Gallardo, Paco Roca, Manel Fontdevila, Daniel Torres, Max or Carlos Giménez.
