Para ello, me acerco en primera instancia a las teorías de la precariedad propuestas por Judith Butler o Isabell Lorey, entre otras, para deslindar conceptos como "vulnerabilidad", "precariedad" y "precarización". Posteriormente esbozo, a modo de muestrario, el corpus ensayístico que configura la constelación mencionada y sugiero una tipología a partir de una serie de categorías propias del sujeto precario. Finalmente selecciono el libro de Raquel Taranilla, Mi cuerpo también, como ejemplo a través del cual distinguir las estrategias discursivas del "pensar en precario" y planteo la posibilidad de intuir, en estas propuestas, una nueva figura del saber que podríamos denominar "el intelectual vulnerable". ABSTRACTMy aim with this article is to underline the existence of an «essay-like constellation of the vulnerability», analyze the literary-philosophical features that define it and ponder its connection with the Spanish intellectual field of the past decade. With that in mind, I will look, in the first place, towards the theories of precariousness put forward by Judith Butler and Isabell Lorey, among others, to delineate concepts like «vulnerability», «precariousness», and «precarisation». Later, I will outline, as an example, the corpus of essays which give shape to the aforementioned constellation and I propose a tipology based on several of the features of the precarious subject. Finally, I choose to highlight Raquel Taranilla’s book, Mi cuerpo también, as an example to pinpoint the discursive strategies of «precarious thinking» and the possibility of making out, through these approaches, a new figure in the field of knowledge that could be called «the vulnerable intellectual».Metadata only Item type: Item , Los intelectuales, el compromiso y el medio siglo español(Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2017) Vila, José AntonioRESUMENEl compromiso de los intelectuales es uno de los temas que más debates ha suscitado en literatura. En este texto he pretendido remontarme a las fuentes y ofrecer un breve repaso histórico de las ideas que subyacen tanto a la noción de «intelectual» como a la de «compromiso». En el siglo XIX van a convivir dos tendencias determinantes en la configuración del campo literario moderno, la de la autonomía del artista y la del cumplimiento de una responsabilidad social a través de la escritura. Ambas son hijas de un mismo tronco común resultado de la filosofía ilustrada y del movimiento romántico en las artes. Por eso en el escritor moderno coexisten esas dos pulsiones: la de la autosuficiencia y la del compromiso con lo social. En el siglo XX la idea de «compromiso» será teorizada con gran repercusión por Sartre. La reflexión sartreana, al igual que la del influyente teórico marxista Georgy Lukács, servirán de guía en esta exposición sobre el problema de conjugar «forma» y «contenido» en una obra de creación que quiere vehicular una intención socialmente crítica. Por último, atiendo a las circunstancias muy específicas en las que se desarrolló la literatura española en la década de los cincuenta. Un momento crucial de la historia cultural de España, cuando la escritura de ficción literaria ofrecía la posibilidad de tratar cuestiones de las que hubiera sido muy difícil escribir de manera abierta en la prensa. Fue entonces también cuando el crítico José María Castellet dio prestigio y difusión a las nociones de «compromiso» y de «responsabilidad» social entre los novelistas. ABSTRACTThe commitment of the intellectuals is one of the most hotly debated topics in literature. In this article my aim is to go back to the origins and give an historical overview of the ideas underlying the concepts of «intellectual» and «commitment». Througout the 19th century, two dominant tendencies will shape the modern literary field, on one hand that of the autonomy of the artist, and, on the other, that of the fulfilling of a social responsability with the act of writing. Both are the result of the intertwinement of Enlightement philosohy and the Romantic movement in the arts. That is why both tendencies coexist in the figure of the modern writer: that of the autonomy and that of the social commitment. In the 20th century, the idea of «commitment» was theorized with great repercussion by Sartre. Sartrean thought, alongside the influential work by marxist theorist Georgy Lukács, will guide us in this exposé on the issue of mixing «form» and «content» in a creative work that is conceived as a vehicle for the social critique. Finally, I will concern myself with the very specific circumstances in which Spanish literature was produced in the 1950s. A crucial moment in Spanish cultural history, when the writing of literary fiction was seen as a way of addressing issues that would have been very difficult to talk about openly in the press. Sobre ciertas formas de escritura ensayística actual y sobre las mutaciones de la cultura peninsular contemporánea que las han hecho posibles (2016-2017)(Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2017) Labrador Méndez, GermánRESUMEN El presente artículo enfoca el análisis de ocho ensayos españoles recientes, posteriores a la crisis de 2008, con el propósito de extraer de ese análisis las características de una práctica de la prosa de ideas. Entre esos rasgos destacan la relación del ensayo con las nuevas instituciones y redes de colaboración social y la tendencia a plantear los problemas en clave menos local y más global. Al mismo tiempo, el descrédito del estado-nación y la cultura derivada del mismo ha abierto un espacio de reflexión donde lo minoritario, lo rural o lo privado cobran especial relevancia. Con todo, son la precariedad, la cultura digital y el feminismo los factores que marcan buena parte del ensayo actual, directamente vinculado a las realidades sociales, económicas y políticas más acuciantes. ABSTRACT This article takes into consideration eight Spanish essays written after the 2008 crisis in order to describe a way of practicing and performing the essay as a genre. Among this features the rol of new institutions and social collaboration nets stands out as well as a tendency of considering issues in a more global than rather local view. At the same time, the discredit of the nation-state and its cultural practices opened a space for reflection where minority, rural or private concerns gain increasing relevance. Este artículo analiza comparativamente la forma en que se significa e interpreta Europa en los ensayos de ambos autores. Magris y Semprún conciben el proyecto europeo como un artefacto paradójico, puesto que promulga la unión supranacional de un conjunto de identidades específicas al mismo tiempo que trata de preservar su diversidad. El proyecto europeo atraviesa hoy un momento de crisis y es visto con escepticismo, hasta el punto de que se ha operado una puesta en abismo de la idea misma de Europa y se duda de su existencia y de su necesidad política. Sin embargo, para ambos autores la razón de ser de la utopía europea radica en su valor como acervo memorístico compartido en virtud del cual Europa se conjura contra los horrores del pasado para evitar que se repita la barbarie que marcó trágicamente la historia del siglo XX. ABSTRACT The idea of Europe, as a shared ethical project, in a permanent process of formation, is one of the epicentric axes of the essay work of Jorge Semprún and Claudio Magris. This article comparatively analyzes the way in which Europe means itself and how Europe is interpreted in the essays of both authors. Magris and Semprun conceive the European project as a paradoxical artifact, since it affirms the supranational union of a set of specific identities and, at the same time, tries to preserve its diversity. The European project is going through a crisis and today is viewed with skepticism, to the point that the idea of Europe has become relativized and its existence and political necessity are questioned. However, for both authors, the reason for European utopia lies in its value as a shared memory, through which Europe exorcises against the horrors of the past to avoid repeating the inhumanity that tragically marked the history of the century XX.Metadata only Item type: Item , El ensayo desde las humanidades digitales: el ensayismo errante como hiperensayo(Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2017) Mora, Vicente LuisRESUMEN En tanto que las Humanidades Digitales demandan el uso de las herramientas de las que nos proveen las tecnologías para analizar los textos, columbrar la relación entre el ensayo y lo digital puede animar al investigador a buscar otra estrategia metodológica, como por ejemplo el hiperensayo. El texto resultante explorará las mutaciones y evoluciones del género ensayo en el ciberespacio y los medios digitales, intentando demostrar las posibilidades de blogs, redes sociales y otras tecnologías a la hora de escribir ensayos tan válidos y profundos como los tradicionales. ABSTRACT Since Digital Humanities demands the analysis of the literary texts using the tools that technologies provide to us, analyzing the relation between essay and digitalism could move the researcher to find another methodological strategy, such as hyperessay. En primer lugar se analizará un conjunto de novelas que, no sólo adoptan determinados recursos propios del género ensayístico, sino que se presentan al completo como simulacros de obras eruditas o de “referencia” (enciclopedias, diccionarios, manuales o catálogos). A continuación hablaremos de algunas novelas recientes que metafóricamente han reemplazado la Enciclopedia tradicional por Wikipedia, simulando ser el resultado de una búsqueda en Google e incluyendo los textos (muchas veces de carácter ensayístico) con los que el narrador se ha ido topando a lo largo de esa búsqueda. Todas las obras estudiadas se pondrán en relación con lo que hemos dado en denominar una “estética de la impostura”, aquella que convierte al plagio y la falsificación, en sí mismos y sin finalidad aparente, en esencia de la creación artística. ABSTRACTThis article deals with two fictional pacts that frequently justify finding an essay in fiction´s bowels. Firstly we will analyze a set of novels that not only adopt certain resources of the essay genre, but also are presented as complete simulacra erudite or "reference" works (encyclopedias, dictionaries, manuals or catalogs). Next we will talk about some recent novels that metaphorically have replaced the traditional Encyclopedia by Wikipedia, simulating to be result of a search in Google and including the texts (often of essayistic character) with which the narrator has been stumbling in that search. Las características de aquellos trabajos vertebrados entre el periodismo y la literatura, en los que cupo la ficción en tanta medida como la reflexión, resultaron no en vano fundamentales para la conformación del ensayismo actual del autor, el cual se ha dirigido en los últimos tiempos, especialmente en sus más ambiciosas plasmaciones, hacia lo que el propio autor ha denominado escritos de “ficción crítica”. ABSTRACT The present work intends to place Enrique Vila-Matas’s essayistic work in a context of critical and analytical revaluation, starting from the author’s formative time, which occurred mainly in the pages of diverse cultural magazines and newspapers from the late 1960s until mid 1980s. The characteristics of those works, founded between journalism and literature, in which fiction occupied as much as the reflection, were essential for the configuration of the author’s current essayism, a type of essayism that has directed itself lately, especially through its most ambitious projections, towards what the author himself has called “critical fiction” writings.
