L'IMIM (Institut Hospital del Mar d'Investigacions Mèdiques), està format per uns set-cents professionals, que es distribueixen en cinquanta-sis grups de recerca, integrats en els cinc programes de caràcter multidisciplinar liderats, majoritariament, per professionals del Parc de Salut MAR. El 16 de desembre de 2013, el Comitè d'Acreditació de l'Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) va aprovar l'acreditació de l'IMIM com a Institut d'Investigació Sanitària.
