Abstract

The last version of Bluetooth has developed a new feature called "Low Energy" that allows low consumption while transmitting data. This can be useful in wireless devices, that always have the constraint of the battery life. This is a concept that can help in the development of devices for Internet of Things, and these devices are the key in the creation of the Smartcities. The aim of this project is to integrate Bluetooth Low Energy communication on LizardOS platform. The scope of the project comprises the research of the new Bluetooth 4.0 specifications, the programming of the Bluetooth communication chip, the development of a driver to integrate it on LizardOS and finally testing it using an Android application on a mobile device.
La última versió de Bluetooth ha desenvolupat una nova característica anomenada Low Energy que permet baix consum mentre hi ha una transmissió de dades. Aixó pot ser útil en dispositius sense fils, que sempre tenen la limitació de la vida de la bateria. Aquest és un concepte que pot ajudar al desenvolupament de dispositius per a Internet of Things", i aquests dispositius són la clau en la creació de "Smartcities". L’objectiu d’aquest projecte és integrar comunicació Bluetooth Low Energy a la plataforma LizardOS. L’abast del projecte comprèn l’estudi de les especificacions del nou Bluetooth 4.0, la programació del xip de comunicació Bluetooth, el desenvolupament de un driver per poder integrar-lo a LizardOS i finalment provar-ho fent servir una aplicació Android a un dispositiu mòbil.
