• dc.description.abstract This study aims to analyse the evolution of visual reporting on the Russia-Ukraine war in Spanish news broadcasts. We investigate how the depiction of the war changed from December 2022 to April 2024, focusing on the evolution of war coverage and on-the-ground war imagery. To achieve this, we use a subset of over 10,000 manually labelled screenshots from news broadcasts covering the Russia-Ukraine war, distinguishing between war-related and non-war-related content. Using a fine-tuned ResNet50 model, we track how the imagery of the war evolved over time, finding that the fluctuations in war images do not strongly correlate with actual events and military actions, suggesting a divergence between media representation and reality.ca
• dc.description.abstract Este estudio pretende analizar la evolución de la información visual sobre la guerra entre Rusia y Ucrania en los portales informativos españoles. Investigamos cómo cambió la representación de la guerra desde diciembre de 2022 hasta abril de 2024, centrándonos en la evolución de la cobertura de la guerra y las imágenes de sobre el terreno. Para ello, utilizamos un subconjunto de más de 10.000 capturas de pantalla etiquetadas manualmente de noticiarios que cubren la guerra entre Rusia y Ucrania, distinguiendo entre el contenido relacionado con la guerra y el que no. Mediante un modelo ResNet50 ajustado, seguimos la evolución de las imágenes de la guerra a lo largo del tiempo y descubrimos que las fluctuaciones de las imágenes de guerra no guardan una estrecha correlación con los acontecimientos y las acciones militares reales, lo que sugiere una divergencia entre la representación mediática y la realidad de los hechos.es
