dc.description.abstract During the last decade, there has been research on many context-based Augmented Reality (AR) applications. Window-on-the-World (WoW) is known as the most extended AR paradigm when it comes to embodied AR interaction. Nonetheless, this project is based on the World-as-Support (WaS) paradigm which has been defined at the Full-Body Interaction Lab (ETIC, UPF), where the current TFG has been undertaken. WaS proposes a different way to place virtual information while allowing embodied interaction, by projecting the virtual content onto the real world instead of placing it on a screen. Because it is a novel paradigm, we are currently exploring the second practical application of the WaS paradigm in the context of heritage sites. Despite this, based on previous research, we can say that WaS might have great potential for collective experiences applied to heritage sites, in which the real content should be the main focus of attention. Hence, the purpose of this project is to design and develop a site-specific AR heritage experience using the WaS paradigm for the Barcino Roman Heritage Site, managed by Museu d’Historia de Barcelona (MUHBA). For this case, we have developed a ` new device that allows users to interact in the WaS paradigm, which we will call the ”AR Magic Lantern”.
