Abstract

The present research paper investigates the possible utilization of the video essay, during the learning process of interpreting theory. The study examines if the tool can assist in establishing a connection between theory and practice and whether it can be considered a useful tool of assessment. Analysis of the theoretical framework focuses on the conducted research within the interpreting pedagogy field, as well as existing literature on the efficacy of the video essay in academia. Conclusions drawn from the literature review, demonstrate a lack of research in the field and further investigation is recommended. A combination of quantitative and qualitative data will be presented and analysed, in the form of a questionnaire and students’ submitted video essays, with the objective of proving the effectiveness of the video essay as a tool of assessment in interpreting.
