• dc.description.abstract Dada la negligencia que se cometió en España al no afrontar la epidemia de poliomielitis, se plantea esta revisión sistemática cuyo objetivo fue realizar una revisión sistemática de la literatura sobre el efecto de la vacuna de la polio y mostrar su eficiencia en términos de incidencia, mortalidad e impacto económico. Se llevó a cabo una revisión sistemática siguiendo la metodología PRISMA. La búsqueda bibliográfica se realizó en Medline (Pubmed) con los siguientes términos: “polio cost-effectiveness”(MESH) y “polio economics” (MESH). Se incluyeron 7 evaluaciones económicas. La evidencia científica revela que el programa de vacunación contra la poliomielitis representa un programa de salud pública muy valioso que contribuye al ahorro del gasto sanitario y que por tanto, reporta un beneficio económico a la sociedad.ca
• dc.description.abstract Given the negligence that was committed in Spain by not facing the epidemic of poliomyelitis, this systematic review has as an objective: to carry out a systematic review of the literature about the effect of the polio vaccine and show its efficiency in terms of incidence, mortality, and economic impact. A systematic review was carried out following the PRISMA methodology. The bibliographic search was carried out in Medline (Pubmed) with the following terms: “polio cost-effectiveness” (MESH) and “polio economics” (MESH). 7 economic evaluations were included. Scientific evidence reveals that the polio vaccination program represents a very valuable public health program that contributes to saving health costs and, therefore, provides an economic benefit to society.en
