- dc.description.abstract With Honkai: Star Rail becoming globally popular, more and more anime games are coming into the public’s attention. The commercialization means decided by the gacha mechanism, that developers will put more effort into the portrayal of female characters, so as to attract the male consumer group of ACG and otaku culture. The controversy over the stereotypes and sexual objectification design of female characters has also attracted the attention and discussion of gamers. As the design of game characters is complex, this study will address two research questions from a post-feminist perspective by combining game mechanics and narrative to analyze how Honkai: Star Rail designs its female characters and how players perceive this character design.
