Análisis del doblaje en español de tres películas de género fantástico: El señor de los anillos, Harry Potter y Big Fish

Abstract

En este trabajo analizamos la traducción de doblaje del inglés al español de tres películas de género fantástico: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone y Big Fish. El objetivo principal es demostrar que no es posible sistematizar la traducción de doblaje ni siquiera dentro de un mismo género. Además, también se quiere demostrar que el subgénero al que pertenezca cada una va a influir mucho en las decisiones que se tomen en el momento de traducir. El análisis del doblaje, respaldado por el marco teórico, está dividido en grupos temáticos y se aplica la clasificación sobre los métodos de traducción de Newmark. En la comparación de los resultados del análisis de las tres películas podemos ver como en Harry Potter se opta por una traducción extranjerizante, en Big Fish por una traducción de domesticación y como El señor de los anillos mantiene un equilibrio entre ambas. Finalmente, en las conclusiones corroboramos que el subgénero al que pertenece cada una de ellas ha influido en las decisiones y metodologías utilizadas para cada traducción y que depende de muchos factores cómo enfrentar la traducción de doblaje del género fantástico, el cual no puede sistematizarse.

En aquest treball analitzem la traducció de doblatge de l'anglès a l'espanyol de tres pel·lícules de gènere fantàstic: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone i Big Fish. L'objectiu principal és demostrar que no és possible sistematitzar la traducció de doblatge ni tan sols dins d'un mateix gènere. A més, també es vol demostrar que el subgènere al qual pertanyi cadascuna influirà molt en les decisions que es prenguin en el moment de traduir. L'anàlisi del doblatge, recolzat pel marc teòric, està dividit en grups temàtics i s'aplica la classificació sobre els mètodes de traducció de Newmark. En la comparació dels resultats de l'anàlisi de les tres pel·lícules podem veure com a Harry Potter s'opta per una traducció estrangeritzant, a Big Fish per una traducció de domesticació i com El senyor dels anells manté un equilibri entre ambdues. Finalment, en les conclusions corroborem que el subgènere al qual pertany cadascuna d'elles ha influït en les decisions i metodologies utilitzades per a cada traducció i que depèn de molts factors com s'encararà la traducció de doblatge del gènere fantàstic, el qual no pot sistematitzar-se.

In this study we have dealt with dubbing from English to Spanish in three different fantasy films. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Big Fish. The main goal is to prove that it is not possible to systematize the translation even within the same genre. Furthermore, it also aims to show that the subgenre to which each one belongs will greatly influence the decisions made at the time of translation. The analysis of dubbing, supported by the theoretical framework, is divided into thematic groups, and we applied the translation methods classification of Newmark's. In the comparison of the results of the analysis of the three films we can see that Harry Potter goes for a foreignization translation, Big Fish for a domestication and The Lord of the Rings maintains a balance between both methods. Finally, in the conclusions we confirm that the subgenre to which each one of them belongs has influenced the decisions and methodologies used for each translation, and that how to face the dubbing of the fantastic it depends on many factors genre and cannot be systematized.
