Abstract

As a result of the new global paradigm, the European Union has promoted a new generation of trade agreements with third countries, which updates aspects agreed upon more than two decades ago. The project analyzes this evolution taking as a sample the trade transition between the EU and Mexico. In this sense, the research focuses on a specific chapter: that of intellectual property and, specifically, the Tequila geographical indication. The analysis of this designation of origin serves to infer the structure of its interest groups and how these actors make their claims reach an increasingly complex European institutional framework.
