Xarxes SR-WLAN: coexistència i prestacions

Abstract

Les xarxes WLAN són una tecnologia gairebé fonamental per les comunicacions d’avui en dia, però n’hi ha tantes per tal de cobrir les necessitats de la gent que arriba un moment que es provoquen interferències entre elles. Aquest treball presenta una solució a aquest problema; fer ús de xarxes de curt abast (SR-WLAN) per tal de millorar el rendiment de l’accés a Internet. L’ús d’aquestes xarxes permet intercanvi d’informació de manera més veloç, però també té inconvenients ja que les interferències provocades pel node ocult poden causar l’efecte contrari, és a dir, que la xarxa vagi més lenta. En aquest projecte es presenten dos casos d’estudi de xarxes SR-WLAN. Per una banda, observar com funcionen aquestes xarxes entre elles i per altre banda, veure si és possible la coexistència de xarxes SR-WLAN amb WLANs convencionals.

WLANs are almost essential to communications technology today, but there are so many wireless networks to cover the users’ needs that there comes a time that they are causing interference between them. This paper presents a solution to this problem; use little network coverage range (SR-WLAN) to improve the performance of Internet access. The use of these networks allows information exchange so faster, but also has drawbacks because the interference caused by hidden node can cause the opposite effect, that means that the network slow down. In this project we present two case studies of SR-WLAN networks. On one hand, observing how these networks works between them and, on the other hand, confirms if it is possible the coexistence of SR-WLAN networks with conventional WLANs.
