While they do not aim to provide a comprehensive analysis of martial arts in this paper, they do plan to draw parallels between sport and martial arts for the purpose of recognizing how martial arts practice may be both aesthetically pleasing and grounded in ethically relevant aims. The upshot of this paper is not wholly positive, however, since the authors draw attention to ethically repugnant practices connected to ideals of aesthetic beauty and other contentious sport practices as part of the analysis of the connection between aesthetic and ethical value. Históricamente, la gran mayoría de deportes modernos tienen su origen en actividades y prácticas corporales, en las que dos o más competidores se comparan y se miden para saber quién es superior. A pesar de que la dinámica competitiva de medir fuerzas sigue siendo fundamental en el deporte moderno, el elemento agonístico ha sido menos estudiado que los juegos, las reglas y las habilidades, aunque en la última década más investigadores de la filosofía del deporte han empezado a centrar su análisis en la competición deportiva. However, the meaning and scope of this right in the documents was little explored in the literature. In view of this academic gap, this article aimed to weave the teleology and dogmatics of the right to sport from the documents that proclaimed it internationally. A theoretical-exploratory research was adopted based on the analysis of documents. It was identified that sport is not comprehended exclusively in its strict sense of competition, but rather in an embracing perspective. This perspective encompasses the body practices components of the physical culture as a whole, commonly treated under the denomination of sport for all. The present research investigated laws that dealt with this issue, both in England and in a markedly Protestant American colony, Pennsylvania, from 1633 to 1682. From the analysis of these laws, it was observed that Protestants who came to the English colonies used their religious freedom to create a regulated control of their free time, based on a morality that overestimated faith and work. A Philosophical Evaluation of mixed-sex football in England(Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2019) Davis, Paul; Edwards, Lisa; Forbes, AlisonThe Football Association (FA) has imposed a ban on mixed-sex football beyond age 18 on the basis that (after age 18) males have an unfair advantage and females face an unacceptable risk of injury. In this paper, we critically evaluate the FA’s rationale and conclude that restriction on the grounds of fairness or harm is unpersuasive. We also argue that there are compelling reasons to remove the limitation on individual female players having access to the highest (or preferred) level of competition. Finally, we present reasons for rejecting forced sex- integration and consider the potential consequences of the recent rule changes governing mixed-sex football in age groups U7-U18 in England.Metadata only Item type: Item , Las medallas perdidas y los deportistas perdidos en las olimpiadas: instituciones y desigualdad de género(Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2019) Fernández Blanco, CarolinaLa tesis central de este artículo es que las instituciones formales e informales pueden ser factores relevantes para explicar que ciertos países obtengan peores resultados en las competencias olímpicas. A partir de este enfoque institucional de carácter general se realiza un análisis más concreto sobre la posible relación entre instituciones, desigualdad de género y rendimiento deportivo olímpico. En primer lugar se propone un análisis relativo a la relación positiva entre participación de mujeres en los juegos olímpicos y un aumento de las posibilidades de obtener mejores resultados en esa competencia. En segundo término se presenta el análisis más significativo del trabajo que propone que, en ciertos países, la desigualdad de género es una causa del escaso rendimiento deportivo por la pérdida de potenciales atletas (lo que se llama en el título “los deportistas perdidos”). El país en el que se centra principalmente la atención es la India, que tiene la segunda población mundial y, sin embargo, una baja participación de atletas en los juegos y una ratio de 1,166 medallas por juego en el que ha participado. Esta comunicación propone una metodología para la construcción del llamado Derecho de la Montaña, desde una perspectiva heterogénea de las normas jurídicas acorde con la tipología de normas señaladas en la reciente Teoría Comunicacional del Derecho. The States, guarantors of the safety of citizens, in collaboration with national and international sports federations, and clubs, have been taking increasingly effective measures to solve this problem, which hinders safety for fans and athletes. This paper analyzes the current situation of violence in the stadiums, making special reference to football, which are the main sources of tension regarding this matter and how to act, pointing out the main tools to reduce violence.
