Abstract

Our everyday life is plenty of social interactions, but there are still many unknowns about the mechanisms supporting them. The current dissertation aims to explore the neurocognitive processes that underlie interactions in different social contexts. To do so, we carried out three experimental studies analyzing the modulation of behavioural and brain activity in individuals that observed and performed social actions. In a first study we observed that mental state processing is carried out implicitly, but can be influenced by the social profile of the person with whom we interact. The second and third studies showed that the planning and execution of movements in joint tasks depends on the degree of interaction between individuals, as well as their social profile. In general, the results of this dissertation allow us to determine the influence of the social context on how we represent our environment and behave in it.
Nuestra vida cotidiana está llena de interacciones sociales, pero todavía hay muchas incógnitas sobre los mecanismos que las respaldan. La tesis actual tiene como objetivo explorar los procesos neurocognitivos que subyacen a estas interacciones en diferentes contextos sociales. Para ello, realizamos tres estudios experimentales analizando la modulación de la conducta y la actividad cerebral en individuos que observaban y realizaban acciones sociales. En un primer estudio observamos que el procesamiento de los estados mentales se lleva a cabo de forma implícita, pero puede estar influenciado por el perfil social de la persona con la que interactuamos. El segundo y tercer estudios mostraron que la planificación y ejecución de movimientos en tareas conjuntas depende del grado de interacción entre los individuos, así como de su perfil social. En general, los resultados de esta tesis nos permiten determinar la influencia del contexto social en cómo representamos nuestro entorno y nos comportamos en él.
