Abstract

Some scientific topics like cell and molecular biology remain primarily accessible to science itself, due to the complexity of the concepts, hermetic language, and lack of visuals. Science communication can demystify these topics and take them closer to the general public; however, current techniques and media might not work well when communicating the most abstract and unfamiliar concepts, such as the three-dimensional genome. From a theoretical perspective, this work analyzes the keys to better understanding scientific complexity from the "Lab", with the goal of identifying the actions that can be pursued from an applied perspective to take these concepts to the "Street" so they are accessible to everyone. End-to-end transdisciplinary design methodologies are used to generate a toolkit that serves as a framework for producing tangible science experiences, an interactive phygital genome as the study objective, and an accompanying contextual exhibition for public display to take the Lab to the Street.
Atesa la complexitat dels conceptes, l’hermetisme del llenguatge i la manca d’elements visuals, alguns temes científics, com la biologia cel·lular i molecular, només es poden abordar des de la mateixa ciència. La comunicació científica pot desmitificar aquests temes i apropar-los al gran públic; tanmateix, és possible que les tècniques i els mitjans actuals no funcionin a l’hora de comunicar els conceptes més abstractes i desconeguts, com el genoma tridimensional. Des d’una perspectiva teòrica, aquest treball analitza les claus per entendre millor la complexitat científica des del “laboratori”, amb l’objectiu d’identificar les accions que es poden dur a terme des d’una perspectiva aplicada per portar aquests conceptes al “carrer” i fer que siguin accessibles per a tothom. S’han fet servir metodologies de disseny transdisciplinar d’extrem a extrem per generar un conjunt d’eines que serveixin de marc per produir experiències científiques tangibles, un genoma figital interactiu com a objecte d’estudi i una exposició contextual d’acompanyament per exhibir-lo públicament amb l’objectiu de portar el laboratori al carrer.
Debido a la complejidad de los conceptos, el hermetismo del lenguaje y la falta de elementos visuales, algunos temas científicos, como la biología celular y molecular, solo se pueden abordar desde la propia ciencia. La comunicación científica puede desmitificar estos temas y acercarlos al gran público; sin embargo, puede que las técnicas y los medios actuales no funcionen a la hora de comunicar los conceptos más abstractos y desconocidos, como el genoma tridimensional. Desde una perspectiva teórica, este trabajo analiza las claves para entender mejor la complejidad científica desde el “laboratorio”, con el objetivo de identificar las acciones que se pueden llevar a cabo desde una perspectiva aplicada para llevar estos conceptos a la "calle" y hacer que sean accesibles para todo el mundo. Se han utilizado metodologías de diseño transdisciplinar de extremo a extremo para generar un conjunto de herramientas que sirvan de marco para producir experiencias científicas tangibles, un genoma figital interactivo como objeto de estudio y una exposición contextual de acompañamiento para exhibirlo públicamente con el fin de llevar el laboratorio a la calle.
