Los trabajos en beneficio de la comunidad: un análisis cualitativo sobre la experiencia y la re/integración de las personas que cumplen TBC en Lleida

Abstract

This study delves into the experiences of individuals serving Community Service Sentences (CSS) at the Grup Cultural Garrigues institution in Lleida, assessing the degree of reintegration achieved throughout their service term. Data was collected through a six-day participant observation at the institution and interviews with various members. The analysis framework was based on the six models of re/integration proposed by Alejandro Rubio Arnal and Fergus McNeill (2024, forthcoming). Findings suggest that despite the inherent challenges of any sentence, the experience of individuals serving CSS at the Grup Cultural Garrigues is overwhelmingly positive. Furthermore, CSS at Garrigues plays a crucial role in the participants' material, personal, social, legal, moral, and civic-political re/integration. In conclusion, these findings underscore the importance of CSS programs that not only meet legal obligations but also foster successful re/integration of individuals, promoting their personal transformation and positive contributions to society.
