To do so, we have resorted to four writers: Edgar Allan Poe, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Shirley Jackson and Thomas Ligotti, whose works will guide the research and constitute its main literary source. The thesis, which finds itself in between literary theory and comparative literature, will make use of a wide selection of texts of the aforementioned authors to proceed with a meticulous observation of the different literary mechanisms the creators make use of, in addition to lay bare the connections that arise between distinct strategies inside the same narration.
