Les dues vides del Carro Solar de Trundholm

Abstract

El centre d’interès d’aquest treball és el Carro Solar preromà que es va trobar a l’aiguamoll de Trundhom, a l’illa de Sjælland, Dinamarca, l’any 1902. Una escultura de bronze formada per un disc solar tirat per un cavall, datada pel 1400 aC. Mirem la història per a explicar com va ser possible de crear, al sud d’Escandinàvia, una escultura que destaca tant per la seva tècnica, amb un contingut científic i amb un significat religiós, com per ser alhora una de les obres d’art de més relleu de l’Edat del Bronzed’Euràsia. Com tots els artefactes de la Prehistòria, un cop s’han trobat, inicien una segona vida, que no té res a veure amb la primera, en un museu o en una col.lecció privada. A la Segona Part s’observa el present per a esbrinar com el passat ha estat llegat. Aleshores s’exposa i es discuteix l’ús polític o mercantil de determinats artefactes del patrimoni arqueològic que la política ha triat com a símbols del país. Aquesta acció és una falta de respecte envers als pobladors i una ofensa cultural a la ciutadania d’avui, quan el coneixement del passat ens ha de servir no pas per a manipular el present sinó per a rescatar els aspectes positius de la història i no repetir-ne els errors.

This paper focuses on the Pre-Roman sunchariot found in 1902 in a peat bog on the Trundholm moor in the island of Zealand, Denmark. It is a bronze sundisk and a statue of a bronze horse which stand both on a bronze rod supported by two wheels for the disk and four for the horse, dated about 1400 BC. Through history we will try to see how it was possible to creat in the south of Scandinavia a sculpture that highlights so much for its technology, with a scientific content and with a religious meaning that it stands as one of the most relevant artworks of the Eurasia Bronze Age. Since all the artifacts of the Prehistory, once they have been found, start a second life that has nothing to do with the previous one, they are consequently to be seen at a museum or in a private collection. In the Second Part we put the focus at the present in order to find out how the past has been bequeathed. Then we exemplify and discuss the political or mercantile use of a set of artifacts that belong to the archaeological heritage that politics have chosen to convert into country symbols. In so doing it is a lack of respect towards the inhabitants of the past and a cultural ofense to today’s citizenship. The knowledge of the past must help us not to manipulate the present but to rescue the positive aspects of history and not to repeat its mistakes.
