South American archaeological sites and dates
(Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2019-12-11) Gregorio de Souza, Jonas
This dataset contains 2762 radiocarbon dates from 1023 archaeological sites in lowland South America. In principle, only archaeological cultures related to the spread of polyculture agroforestry (tropical forest farming) and ceramics are represented. The dataset has been compiled and is continuously updated as part of the project ExPaND: Examining Pan-Neotropical funded by the European Commission H2020.

429 phytolith images of eight different morphotypes (bilobate, bulliform, cross, elongate, globular, rondel/trapeziform, saddle, trichome)
(Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2020) Ruiz Pérez, Javier; Zurro, Debora; Díez Pastor, José Francisco; Latorre Carmona, Pedro; Arnaiz González, Alvar
429 phytolith images of eight different morphotypes (bilobate, bulliform, cross, elongate, globular, rondel/trapeziform, saddle, trichome) from soil samples used in a comparative analysis of six classification methods to examine the efficacy of different quantitative approaches for characterising phytoliths and automatically identify them. These data are the supplementary materials of the paper titled ""You are not my type": An evaluation of classification methods for automatic phytolith identification", co-authored by Díez-Pastor, J.F., Latorre-Carmona, P., Arnaiz-González, Á., Ruiz-Pérez, J., Zurro, D., and sent for publication to Microscopy and Microanalysis (currently under review).

A Wood charcoal reference collection for the Anthracology of the northern Highlands of Ethiopia
(2019-04-10) Ruiz-Giralt, Abel; Bouchaud, Charlène; Salavert, Aurélie; Lancelotti, Carla; D'Andrea, A. Catherine
Here, we present a wood charcoal reference collection for anthracological analyses in the Highlands of Ethiopia. Available plant species and genus were selected according to their importance in the different vegetation types present in the northern Highlands of Ethiopia following the information published by Friis et al. (2010) and their availability in the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle collections at Paris. It contains pictures of the cross, radial and tangential sections, as well as anatomical descriptions following the terminology proposed by the International Association of Wood Anatomists.
